Also referred to as French window, a French door is type of door that features multiple “lites or “windows” in it. The lites are practically used to allow light to pass through and permeate even when the door is closed.
French doors gained popularity during the end of the Renaissance period. During that time, many houses, buildings, and establishments in France and Germany used this door as a part of their architecture.
Traditionally, French doors use glass and mullions. The multiple glass lites are inserted inside the mullions or panels and each piece is then carefully attached to the door’s frame or body.
